Patriots @ Lions: Thanksgiving Day Flashback?

The New England Patriots (2-0) will head into their third preseason game this Saturday night to take on the Detroit Lions (2-0). Both teams are expected to play at least three quarters as week one of the NFL season is approaching fast. The last time these two teams met was on Thanksgiving Day last season where the Lions got embarrassed on national television (45-24).

Tom Brady picked apart Detroit’s secondary last meeting and I’m sure that is what he intends on doing tonight at Ford Field. During the 2011 preseason, the Patriots rank first in the league in points and yards per game while the Lions are second in the league in points per game and fourth overall in total yards.  I know stats don’t mean much in preseason but it is nice to know these two teams are moving the ball up and down the field on a consistent basis. All signs point towards an exciting game at Ford Field tonight and fans can expect their number one overall pick, Matthew Stafford to be behind center this time around.

WATCH OUT – We should expect some chemistry to start developing between Tom Brady and Ochocinco. Look for Danny Woodhead to rebound from getting rocked last preseason game against the Buccaneers, he is expected to start.  The Patriots secondary will be put to a nice test tonight. Monitor how well MLB Brandon Spikes fairs this game as backup MLB Dane Fletcher is creeping up right behind him, giving Spikes a run for his money.

Tonight’s Inactive List:

Lions – Jahvid Best, Kyle Vanden Bosch, Nick Fairley, Jason Fox, Maurice Morris, and Alphonso Smith.

The Patriots will announce their inactive list right after kickoff.
